Does this sound like you?
In society today, there is so much pressure – from work, family, community, and even social media – to say, act, perform, and achieve at such a high standard. It’s easy to feel that you are never measuring up. Either in your home life, in your career, or your relationships, something is always missing. There does not seem to be enough time in the day to manage all the expectations of you. The thoughts running through your head jump from subject to subject – from things to take care of at home with the kids to how to provide financially for your family to how to manage your friendships in what seems to be a matter of seconds. There is a constant loop of thoughts, worries, fears, and to-dos. You might even begin to wonder, “How did I get to this point?”
You are not alone.
Counseling can help. Through either online or in-person therapy in Texas and by taking the time to re-focus and re-center, you can re-create your life in a way that gives you back control of your mind and energy.
Hi, I’m Misti, LPC and women's therapist in Texas.
It is a brave first step to be here, searching for therapeutic support – I am proud of you.
Throughout your counseling journey, I will remind you of the bravery and courage it takes to walk through and process your pain and challenges to find joy and peace.
With over 20 years of educational and counseling experience, I have worked with individuals from many different backgrounds presenting with a wide variety of issues. I specialize in women’s issues, anxiety, depression, maternal mental health and infertility, life transitions, relationship and communication issues, and career concerns.
As your therapist, I strive to:
-
Provide a safe, non-judgmental environment of freedom
-
Walk with you through processing your past hurts, disappointments, and struggles
-
Guide you through editing and re-writing your life story
-
Facilitate meaningful change that creates a brighter future for you
Therapy with me is like coming home – a warm, authentic place to settle in – to process, discover, learn, grow, and heal.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy as a foundation for my work. By increasing self-awareness and insight, I will help you identify core beliefs and automatic thoughts that do not serve you. We will work together to replace these unwanted thoughts and negative core beliefs with rational and helpful thoughts. You will learn the truth about who you are – to clearly see how your past experiences have shaped your worldview – to gain greater clarity about your strengths and your internal worth and value.
I will teach you how to create a life with a mindset, an emotional framework, and behaviors that propel you toward your goals. This is my purpose – that through authentic, kind, and person-centered therapy, you will own your story, reshape your thoughts, and create habits that align with your values and serve you. I use Brainspotting to help clients access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain.
You can always expect to leave our sessions feeling seen, heard, and empowered. We will collaborate together to find the tools, resources, and coping skills that you need to get out of your head, calm your anxiety, and create the life you desire.
“I am inspired by everyday people who make the brave decision to begin therapy. I am honored to walk alongside my clients during their journey.”
Services
It is the mission of Brave Journey Counseling to create a safe space, free of judgment, for clients to work through the difficulties they face in life.
Individual Counseling for Teens and Adults
Through individual counseling in Texas, I will meet you exactly where you are – with any struggles, challenges, and opportunities for growth that you bring to the table. We will work together to break through the fog to discover your true values, goals, and mission for your life. Therapy with me is a place to start your journey toward healing and wholeness.
Family Counseling
Are you struggling with communication in your family? Do you feel like there are constant misunderstandings or conflicts at home?
Family counseling is a safe place to start your journey toward healing. Your home is the foundation of your life. Because of this, creating a peaceful and loving home is critical in creating the life that you want.
In family counseling, you will work on building trust and healthy communication, setting boundaries, and navigating conflict. The complex nature of relationships and families and our tendencies to recreate familiar patterns make many family issues difficult to solve on your own. Family counseling can help facilitate meaningful change and establish new healthy patterns in your home.
Career Counseling
Have you found yourself at a juncture in your career and are unsure where to go next? Do you have professional goals, but do not know how to achieve them?
Through career counseling, I will guide you in discovering your career priorities. You will establish your goals and set a realistic, achievable, and attainable action plan to meet your goals. I will provide accountability, support, and coaching through your journey (and I’ll also help you learn how to deal with the not-so-great co-workers and naysayers along the way).

What is the Good Faith Estimate? The Good Faith Estimate is also called the "No Surprises Act". You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, healthcare providers, and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
